Memorial Services
On Remembrance Sunday each year, there is a a ceremony where wreaths are laid at the military memorial to remember the Service personnel killed during past wars.
The Project thought there should be a similar event to remember the civilians killed, and to avoid any clashes, chose to do this each year on the nearest Sunday to the anniversary of the Bath Blitz.
On the first occasion, the newly installed Memorial was unveiled by the Mayor of Bath. Since then, each year, a simple wreath has been placed at the Memorial by a descendant of somebody killed in the Bath blitz.
The value of this annual event was recognised in April 2007, when the Chairman of Bath & North East Somerset Council awarded the Project a Chairman's Community Award.
- On April 27th 2003, the sixty-first anniversary of the last bombing raid on Bath, a ceremony was held to unveil and dedicate the Memorial
- On April 25th 2004, a ceremony was held with the wreath laid by a member of the Adkins family.
- On April 24th 2005, a ceremony was held to with the wreath laid by a member of the Burden family.
